Aditi Deodhar Jeevitnadi -

Founder Director - Jeevitnadi Living River Foundation

Jeevitnadi is a section 8 company with the vision of rejuvenation of rivers through people participation with current focus on Pune rivers.

I conceptualized the Muthai River Festival, to celebrate our rivers. It was celebrated for the first time in 2015 and has continued since then.

I designed the exhibition “Story of a River”, “एका नदीची कहाणी”, by collecting and compiling data about the river from various aspects like archaeology, history, anthropology, ecology. It was launched as part of Muthai 2015. Since then this exhibition has been organised at various corporate offices, educational and other institutes.

I conceptualized the “Adopt a river stretch”, the very first action program of Jeevitnadi. The first project under this program was launched on Mutha river at Vitthalwadi in May 2017. Idea is to bring together “idle good intentions” in the community and convert them into collective good action of river conservation.

Currently 3 projects are going on, on Mutha, Mula and confluence of Ram-Mula. Local citizens do clean-up, record biodiversity and carry out various conservative actions.

Five years of on-field experience and an understanding of challenges, interactions, impacts at each stretch enabled Jeevitnadi to prepare and present the case-studies of ecologically sensitive riverfront development for Mutha at Vitthalwadi and Mula at Aundh as an alternative to the proposed riverfront development by PMC.
